John Robert Bellinger

John R. Bellinger, Ph.D., 85 of Indio, California, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

John was born on April 19, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Jack and Margaret Bellinger. To his family and friends, he was affectionately known as Bob. His father, Jack, passed away when Bob was just two years old. Three years later, his mother Margaret remarried Mickey Anderson, who became a part of Bob’s life.

John pursued a career in psychology, earning his Ph.D. and dedicating his life to the field of mental health. He worked for many years as a clinical psychologist in outpatient mental health centers, where he made a meaningful impact on countless lives. In the latter part of his career, he served with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, continuing his commitment to helping others.

John is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Chris) Woods; and grandsons, Austin and Colton Woods, all of Broomfield, Colorado. He is also survived by his significant other, Judy Sutherland, of Palm Springs, California.
