Joe David Carr, 81, passed away peacefully July 20, 2026 surrounded by his loving family in Sioux City, Iowa.

Joe was born January 10, 1945 in Hawarden Iowa to Clarence Carr and Kathryn Waddell. Joe spent his childhood in Hawarden on the river with his dog Big Boy, working with cars and in his dads auto salvage yard. Joe attended college after high school at Wayne State College. He married Beverly Elliot in 1964. From this marriage he had two sons-Steve and Jeff. On May 5, 1979 he married the love of his life, Kathy Hansen. They had two more children-Becky and Luke.

Joe was a Jack of all trades through his work career selling oil rig pumps, selling cars, bartending and spending 25 years as a Supportive Services Hospital Manager at Broadwater Health Center in Townsend, Montana before he retired.

Joe enjoyed being outdoors, camping in the mountains, cruising around in his boat listening to Jimmy Buffet, fishing and water skiing. He enjoyed wood working and fixing things. He loved spending time with his family and friends making memories and telling stories. He never knew a stranger. He will be missed deeply by everyone that loved him.

Joe is survived by his wife Kathy, his children Steve (Dawn) of West Fargo, North Dakota, Jeff (Kama) of Hawarden, Iowa, Becky (Chris) of Chadron, Nebraska, and Luke (Melanie) of Townsend, Montana, his 5 grandchildren Andrew, Sammy, Sawyer, Justin and Shawna. Joe was preceded in death by his father Clarence, mother Kathryn and sister Judy.

There will a celebration of life on Saturday July 25 at 12:00 in Newcastle Nebraska.
