Joanne Marilyn Street, 80 of Ponca, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at an Omaha Hospital after a courageous battle of a long illness. A Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Reverend Chuck Stanga officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation, with family present, will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Mohr Funeral Home of Ponca is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society, Partner's for Patriots, or Little White Dog Rescue.

Joanne was born on January 6, 1944 to Jack and Verly (Forney) Street in Ponca, Nebraska. She was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the Class of 1962. Joanne began working at Mutual of Omaha after High School until December, when she started at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. She worked there until her retirement 45 years later. 

Joanne was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Nebraska, loved to travel, of which France made the biggest impression on her. She loved the Eiffel Tower and became a collector of many figurines of the tower. Joanne also loved anything with dragonflies. She moved back to Ponca when her health started to fail.

Joanne is survived by her brother John Street of Ponca; her faithful dog Sadie; aunt and uncle Lanny and Barb Walker of Council Bluffs; cousins Janice Stark, Steve Forney, Nancy Johnson, David Forney, Earlene Anderson, Brenda Diamond, and Sandy Smith; and numerous friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Glenn Walker, infant sister Kimberly Walker, step-sisters Judy Barton and Carole Oathout, step-brother Terry Dale, paternal and maternal grandparents, pets Misty, Chyna, and Teddy, cousin Paul Knudsen and infant cousin Annette Knudsen.
