JoAnn Pearson, 78, formerly of Newcastle, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, Nebraska.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Nebraska with Pastor Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in the Newcastle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the funeral home.JoAnn was born April 11, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Ardath (Harding) Pearson. She lived her lifetime at Newcastle, with the exception of the last sixteen years, which she spent living at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca. JoAnn, being an invalid all her life, was lovingly cared for by her parents until the death of Martin on September 8, 1999 and Ardath on September 28, 2001.She was a member of the United Church of Christ and their Ladies Aid, and the Helping Hand Club.JoAnn enjoyed being around family and friends of the community and remembered everyone by name. She was a dog lover, always having a dog companion. She enjoyed spending time at the family's cabin on the river, cutting the cards when her relatives played cards, new purses and dresses, and having her fingernails polished.Survivors include one aunt, Jean (Pearson) Merritt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, many cousins and many friends.JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents.
