JoAnn A. Murray

  JoAnn A. Murray, 85, of Lincoln, NE and formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at a Lincoln care facility following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Tom LoVan officiating. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel assisting family with arrangements.

  JoAnn was born on August 8, 1938 in Sioux City to Adolph and Evelyn (Powers) Vohs. She graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School in 1956 and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln later in life, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

  She married Roger Murray on May 11, 1957 in Elk Point, SD. Roger preceded her in death in February of 2021.

  JoAnn grew up in Sioux City, and following her high school graduation moved to Maywood, CA, where she lived from 1957-1961. She returned to the Siouxland area, living in Sioux City and then Le Mars until 1973, when she relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska where she lived until her passing.

  During her years in Sioux City, JoAnn worked for Swift and Company, and went on to become the main employment building manager for Cooper Foundation in Lincoln.

  She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Lincoln for several years. In her free time, JoAnn enjoyed gardening.

  She is survived by her daughters, Dana and Karen, both of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Richard Murray and his wife Karen of Sioux City; brother Russell Murray and his wife Pam of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janice; brother, Douglas; and her husband, Roger.
