JoAnn "Jo" B. McQuillen

JoAnn B. McQuillen, 85, of Sioux City, IA passed away peacefully Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Floyd Senior Living in Sergeant Bluff, IA. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. JoAnn “Jo” was born April 14, 1938, to Virgil and Dorothy (Irwin) Stewart in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1956. Jo met Mervin also known as “Sonny,” the love of her life, and they were married on September 13, 1958, and together they raised 4 boys in the Sioux City Area. Jo was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Throughout Jo’s life she had various job titles but the best title she held was being a mom and wife. Jo and Sonny enjoyed dancing and drinking a few beers when they were young, camping, playing cards, board games, and sitting on their deck visiting with neighbors. Jo’s life was full and her passing leaves a void, but cherished memories bring a smile and warmth to our hearts, especially the Christmas dance to Tanya Tucker’s rendition of Christmas to Christmas.

Jo will be greatly missed by her four sons: Terry (Barb) Gray, Bob (Lori) McQuillen, Doug McQuillen, and Pat (Lori) McQuillen; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and surviving sisters: Joyce Brown, Mary (Bob) Lewis, Sandy (Danny) Koopman and Deb Wagner. She is preceded in death by her husband Mervin “Sonny,” parents, four siblings and two grandchildren.
