Joan Mae Hodgins

Joan M. Hodgins, 79 of McCook Lake passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2025 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Joan was born the daughter of William and Agnes (Fricken) Folk on July 7, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended Riverside High School. Joan married William “Bill” Hodgins in June of 1962. 

She had several jobs over the years, working at IBP and MCI, as well as Walmart pharmacy for many years.

Joan enjoyed thrifting, repurposing things to fit her eye and Halloween. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and visiting with the neighbors for a driveway beer. 

Joan is survived by her children Bethany (Jacob) Strawn and Annette (Jason) Kyle; daughter-in-law, Jean Hodgins (David Engling); grandchildren, Nicholas Hodgins, Christina Haulk, Benjamin Strawn, Chloe Strawn, and James Bowes; great-grandchildren, Lea, Elijah, Tiana, Izabella, Hailey, James, Natalie, Jason, Brianna, Natalie, Nathan, and Mason; brothers-in-law, Doug (Randi Adams), Emmett (Robyn), Steve (Mary), and Ron; sisters-in-law, Rose McNaughton and Margo Hodgins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and sons, William D., John, and Kurt.
