Joan M. Betcke

  Joan M. Betcke, 83, of Remsen and formerly of the Salix area, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at a local care facility. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.   Joan was born on January 13, 1941 in Luton, Iowa to Joseph and Mary (Sivill) Betcke. She grew up and graduated from high school in the Luton/Salix, eventually moving to Sioux City where she became an involved member of the PACE program. Joan loved the PACE program and the individuals she met throughout her time there. She also loved to draw, spending time with her family, and cats.

  Survivors include her cousins: Toni (Sivill) Krause of Tempe, AZ; Donald and Doug Fymbo of Denver, CO; and Mary Lynn Young of Missouri.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Mary Jo Betcke.
