Jo Ann June Wilson of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at Pioneer Valley Living & Rehab at the age of 95. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation with family present will take place one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jo Ann was born on March 20, 1931, in Sioux City to Cleatus and Evelyn Heslop. She grew up in Morningside and attended East High School. Jo Ann married Dale Leon Wilson on December 23, 1950. They honeymooned at the Warrior Hotel. Dale and Jo Ann welcomed three boys they loved dearly. Jo Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Family was the absolute joy of her life. Jo Ann worked tirelessly at the West Side Market for Irv Givot for nearly 30 years, walking to and from work, and ensuring her family didn’t miss a meal.

Jo Ann was a long-time member of First Covenant Church and spent many hours serving meals and providing baked goods with her church ladies. One of Jo Ann’s favorite pass times was cooking and baking for her beloved family and friends.

Jo Ann had a beautiful singing voice and would love all to know she shared the stage with Lawrence Welk as a young girl at the Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City. She sang at many weddings and funerals in the Sioux City area over the years.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; son Scott; father Cleatus; mother Evelyn; sister Nancy; brother Gary; brother-in-law Edward Vonderharr; niece Jill Prichard; nephew Bill Heslop; nephew Thomas Vonderharr; among many other family members and friends.

Survivors include her sister Cheryl Vonderharr of Buena Park, CA; sons Mark (Patty) Wilson of Chicago, IL; and Kirk Wilson of Sioux City; daughter-in-law Denise Wilson of Sioux City; grandchildren Reid (Ariel) Wilson of Chicago, IL; Erin (Alex) Randazzo of Chicago, IL; Gregg Wilson (Meagan Archer) of Sioux City; Alex (Megan) Wilson of Windom, MN; and Rachel (Joe) Steinle of Windom, MN; six great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Pioneer Valley Living & Rehab for their special care of Jo Ann the past 8 years. They would also like to thank St. Croix Hospice, especially Missy, for time spent with Jo Ann in her final months. Jo Ann was a sparkle in everyone’s eye and will be dearly missed.
