  Jimmy A. “Jim” Morey, 84, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Logan Park Cemetery.

  Jim was born on March 2, 1940, in Sergeant Bluff, IA, to Edwin and Willys (Hopkins) Morey. On October 1, 1975, he wed Marianne Welby in Yankton, South Dakota. He cherished his memories of their travel to Alaska above all else. He was passionate about playing guitar, singing and loved classic country-western music.

  He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years, and worked in various roles for the City of Sioux City where he retired.

  He is survived by his brother, Dan (LaNora) Morey of Plymouth County; sister, Nancy Morey of Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Sandy Stokely of Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Joann Morey; step-children: Stephen (Pam) Reed of Lincoln, NE; Mary Nauheimer of Arlington, VA; Margaret Peplinski of Sioux City; David (Jeanette) Reed of Stafford, VA; and Michaeleen Roark of Jefferson, SD. He was a loving grandpa and uncle to many.

  He was preceded in death by his wife Marianne Morey; sister, Jeanenne Leedom; brother-in-law, Frank Leedom; son, Jimmy Morey, Jr.; sons-in-law: Tony Roark and Frank Nauheimer; and grandsons: Brian Peplinski and Joel Peplinski.
