Jesus Santamaria, 72, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at a local hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska, with Father Matt Niggemeyer as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City. Visitation, with the family present, will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Jesus was born on March 20, 1954, in Mexico City, Mexico. He attended secondary school and was a man full of character and personality. He was genuine, honest, and deeply caring, never meeting a stranger—even when there was a language barrier. With his playful spirit and sense of humor, he always found a way to connect, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.

He found joy in collecting toy cars and had a deep passion for music, often playing the guitar and piano. Jesus was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family. They were his greatest pride and most cherished accomplishment, and in return, his family was incredibly proud of the genuine man he was.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Matilde Santamaria; his sons, William, Jesse, and Angel Santamaria; his grandchildren, Alina and Mia; and his daughter-in-law, Giang.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother.

Jesus will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Jesús fue un esposo, padre y abuelo devoto que trabajó arduamente para mantener a su familia. Ellos eran su mayor orgullo y su logro más preciado, y a su vez, su familia estaba increíblemente orgullosa del hombre íntegro que era.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Matilde Santamaria; sus hijos, William, Jesse y Angel Santamaria; sus nietas, Alina y Mia; y su nuera, Giang.
