Jerry A. Peterson, 80 of Sioux City passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jerry was born the son of Irving and Aldine (Wolleson) Peterson on January 23, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. After completing his schooling, Jerry honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. from 1965 to 1968. He was very proud of his service and always had an American flag and Marine flag flying at his home. Jerry married Julianne Choquette on October 21, 1972 in Sioux City.
Jerry was always a hard worker. He worked in the packing house business for 33 years until his retirement.
He was a very talented woodworker and enjoyed creating custom pieces for family and friends. He was also a talented artist, particularly in pencil sketch drawing. Above all, Jerry cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He loved going to all their activities.
He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Julianne Peterson of Sioux City; children, Jason (Lorena) Peterson of Elk Point and Stacey (Jon) Hopkins of North Sioux City; and grandchildren, Addison, Sydnee, and Riley; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis and Marie Peterson; brothers-in-law, Ron (Ann) Choquette and Mike (Mary) Choquette; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ron and Tom.
