Jennifer “Jenny” Marie Curry, 41 of Waterbury, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at a Sioux City hospital due to complications from an automobile accident on Labor Day. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Father James V. Kramper officiating. Burial will be at a later date at South Creek, Calvary Cemetery of rural Ponca, Nebraska. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to services on Thursday. Jennifer was born on August 8, 1983 in Sioux City, Iowa to Dale and Anna (Walsh) Hackney. She attended Ponca Public Schools and worked as a C.N.A and Med aide following her education. This career showcased her compassion, her respect for the elderly, and her determination for those she cared for to always keep their dignity. Jenny genuinely loved her work, and firmly believed it was a calling to this special field that highlighted the characteristics that made Jenny….Jenny.
Jenny is survived by her three children Gabe and Hannah of Emerson, Nebraska, Ayden of Waterbury, Nebraska; Grandson Ryker of Emerson (her three children were her pride and joy, she was glad to welcome her only grandchild, however, she did not get to meet him); Parents Dale and Anna Hackney of Waterbury; Brother Joseph (Katie) Hackney of Lyons, Nebraska; special Niece Dalynn Hackney; special Nephew Gunner Hackney; Grandmother Anette Braley of Spearfish, South Dakota; and numerous wonderful uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Jenny was preceded in death by her Grandpa and Grandma Walsh (Joseph), Grandpa Lyle Hackney, Aunt Mary Walsh and Uncle Tony Walsh, and Aunt Susie “Donna” Hackney.
