Jeanette M. Thomas

Jeanette M. Thomas, 74, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022.  A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. 

Jeanette was born the daughter of Fernant “Dutch” and Vanetta (Barrett) Elgert on September 6, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa.  She graduated from Heelan High School in 1966.  Jeanette married William J. “Bill” Thomas on November 18, 1967.  They enjoyed 54 years together. 

Jeanette ran in home daycare for 25 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Bill Thomas of Sioux City; children, Tanya (Brian) Oligmueller of West Point, Nebraska, Bill (Heidi) Thomas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Joe (Kristen) Thomas of Wellman, Iowa, and Todd Thomas of Sioux City; brothers, Tom Elgert, Mark Elgert, Dale (Stachia) Elgert, and Scott (Terri) Elgert; sisters, Diana Heibel, Sally (Richard) Howard, and Mary Catherine Oberg; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doug; and sister, Carol.
