Jeanette Annabelle Schademan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Continental Springs Care Center in South Sioux City, NE, at the age of 86. Born on September 12, 1939, in Lyons, NE, she was the daughter of John Peter and Elsie Francis (Tighe) Peterson. Jeanette grew up in Bancroft, NE, where she graduated from Bancroft High School.
On November 4, 1957, Jeanette was united in marriage to Darrel George Schademan Sr. in Bancroft, marking the beginning of a partnership that would flourish for many years. The couple was blessed with six children and dedicated their lives to each other and their family. In 1965, they moved to South Sioux City, where they would create many cherished memories. Jeanette was not only a devoted wife and mother but also had a long career working as a waitress in various establishments, including the Paddock, the Karousel, and Park Plaza. Additionally, she sold Avon.
Throughout her life, Jeanette was known for her strong-willed, sweethearted personality and her independence, even after the passing of her beloved husband, Darrel, on January 3, 2015. She was very social, forming connections and friendships with many. Jeanette had a deep love for her family, which she expressed through her nurturing nature and her adeptness with children. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her deeply.
Jeanette's faith was an integral part of her life. A strong Catholic, she was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where she found community and spiritual nourishment. Her hobbies included tending to her beautiful flowers and enjoying spirited games of cards, activities that brought her joy and fellowship.
She is survived by her children: Jean (Mike) Dailey, Joyce Haines, Julie Schademan, Joan (Paul) Barrett, Darrel (Brenda) Schademan Jr., and Dean (Brenda) Schademan; along with her 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrel, one sister, one brother, and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, beginning with visitation at 9:30 AM, followed by the Rosary at 10:30 AM and Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Croix Hospice. Mohr and Becker-Hunt Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
