Obituary

Jared R. Raymer, 47 of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Visitation will be 2:00- 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City with a service at 4:00 P.M. Private burial at a later date.

Jared was born the son of Robert Raymer and Karen Whipps on March 28, 1979 in Waverly, Iowa. He graduated from Spencer High School and then obtained a degree in carpentry at Western Iowa Tech. Jared married Cayla Sanders on August 19, 2006 in Sioux City, Iowa. They had two daughters, Brooke (17) and Jenna (15) who were the light of his life.

Jared worked for Meier Towing for several years where he gained a love for tow trucks. He then worked for the Iowa DOT for 23 years moving from maintenance to construction, and then to his final position as an Engineering Operations Technician. He loved his job and appreciated all the friendships he built that became family throughout the years.

Jared loved spending time with his daughters going to auctions, shooting guns, attending fair activities, and watching them play softball. It didn’t matter what they were doing, as long as they were together. He had a passion for going to auctions, caring for our cows, snowmobiling in Wyoming, and trips to the casino with his buddies.

Jared is survived by his wife, Cayla Raymer and their two daughters, Brooke and Jenna; father, Robert (Candi) Raymer; mother, Karen Raymer; siblings, Teresa Urrego, Tracy (Greg) Dittmer, and his twin brother John Raymer; several nieces and nephews; and our family dog Copper.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several close friends.
