Janice M. Hayes

Janice M. Hayes, 87 of Dakota City, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Dakota City United Methodist Church with Reverend Julie Raridan officiating. Burial will follow at the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at the church. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Janice was born on June 11, 1938, in Burt County, Nebraska on a farm to Harvey and Eleanor (Marr) Whisinand. She had one sibling, Nancy, and graduated from Lyons High School with the Class of 1955. Janice married Robert Hayes on December 24, 1956, in Burt County. To this union, five children were born.

Later in life, the couple moved to Dakota City, Nebraska to make a home. She retired from MCI after 20 years of work. Janice enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and being involved with the Dakota City United Methodist Church, but she found her greatest joy with her family, and grandkids!

Janice is survived by her children Gary, Pam, Jim, and Mike; 15 grandkids; 40 great-grandkids; and 11 great-great-grandkids.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Deb, husband Robert, and several aunts and uncles.
