Janice M. Harder, 84, of Wakefield and formerly of Allen, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the Wakefield Healthcare Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dixon, Nebraska. Father Jerry Connealy will celebrateVisitation beginning with a Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca.  Janice was born on December 16, 1939 in rural Jackson, Nebraska to Richard and Maria (Bottger) Evans. She grew up in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1958. She later moved to Allen, Nebraska in 2002. Following her move to Allen, Janice became a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in nearby Dixon, Nebraska.

 On September 2, 1961 she married Ronald E. Harder at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City.

 She worked for IBP for several years and went on to cook in the kitchen at South Sioux City High School. 

 Survivors include her husband, Ronald Harder of Wakefield, NE; children: Patricia Roeber (Monte) of Allen, NE, and Gerald Harder (Loree) of Roanoke, TX; six grandsons: Heath Roeber (McKenzie), Austin Roeber (Megan), Cole Roeber (Alexis Schmidt), Jonathan Harder (Gabby), Jacob Harder (Taylor), and Justin Harder; 10 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Bryan, Thomas, Eleanor, Rachel, Lucas, Hallie, Samuel, Olivia, and Grayson; a brother, William “Bill” Evans (Mary) of Lenexa, KS; three sisters-in-law: Betty Casey, Shirley Book, and Judy Novak; a brother-in-law, Duane Harder (Edith); and several nieces and nephews

 She was preceded in death by her parents; two sistersPhoniel Miller and JoAnn Schleisman; and a brother, Richard Evans.
