Janet R. Goodrich

Janet R. Goodrich, 92 of Climbing Hill passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. with a time of sharing at 6:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Janet was born the daughter of Paul and Opal (Coon) Hummel on January 4, 1933 at home in rural Oto, Iowa. She attending country school and then graduated from Climbing Hill High School. Janet married Platt David Goodrich, Jr. on August 1, 1951 in Climbing Hill. They made their home on the family farm between Oto and Climbing Hill where they started farming. Janet became a remarkable farm wife and homemaker. They had a farm sale in 1994 when they retired. They had already moved into Climbing Hill in 1992.

Janet was very resourceful, independent, and always kept herself busy. She was an amazing cook and could seemingly prepare a meal on a moments notice. She enjoyed flowers, crocheting, needlework, and painting. In her later years, bird watching kept her going. She liked watching them around her bird feeders and she became very knowledgeable about many different species.

Those survivors left to embrace their memories of Janet include her son, Michael (Rosey) Goodrich of Hornick, Iowa; siblings, Margie Ross, Dick (LaDonna) Hummel, Ray (Ella June) Daily; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, David; and brothers, Phil and Randy.
