Jan Levine, 78, passed away peacefully at Overland Park Regional Hospital. Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 27, at Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City with John Potash officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in memory of Jan Levine to Hospice of Siouxland.

Jan was born in Oakland, California, at the US Naval Hospital and grew up in Santa Ana, California. She graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1963. Jan met the love of her life, Gene, in Los Angeles, and the two were married in North Hollywood. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and then to Sioux City, Iowa, where they raised their family. She lived her final years at Bloom Living in Olathe, Kansas.

Jan worked for many years in the women's clothing business and developed her talents to become a professional calligrapher. She worked with a quill pen, accepting commissions from many celebrities over the years, including Giorgio Armani, Emilio Estevez, and former President Ronald Reagan. Jan had a keen eye for beauty and pursued her love of art throughout her life.

Many people have shared how sincere, loving, positive, and kind she was. She cared deeply for her family and friends, and the well-being of others. She often acted in service to society by delivering food to those in need or speaking up against injustices. Jan lived with positivity, beauty, and loving kindness towards all who came into her surroundings. Her resilience and strength of character were evident throughout her life and until the very end.

Left to honor her memory are her children: Barbra (Pak) Levine Pakravan, living in Australia; Jack (Kristen) Levine, living in Overland Park; and Randy Levine and his partner, Bob Presz, of Milwaukee; her grandchildren, (Lauren, and Ethan Levine); and her sister, Barbara Rose, of Sonoma, California.

Preceding Jan in death are her husband, Gene; her parents, Willis Smith, and Audrey Callan; her sister, Becky Jo Smith; and her infant twin sons, Robert, and Richard.
