James “Jim” W. Jones, 76, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jim was born on January 30, 1950, in Sioux City, IA, to Raymond V. and Darlene (Smith) Jones. He was raised in the Hinton area and graduated from Leeds High School in 1969. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police officer. On May 13, 1972, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Myrna Rameden. Together, they built a life centered on family, dedication, and quiet strength.
Jim worked at Sioux City Foundry for 10 years, after that he worked at Mid-American Energy for over 30 years, retiring in 2014. He was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, Jim found deep contentment in life’s simple and meaningful routines. He spent many hours in his “man-cave,” tending to his acreage and garden, and caring for the animals he raised over the years, including goats and sheep. Most recently, he took special pride in his two geese, Ollie and Veronica. He also appreciated a good cigar, a cold Budweiser, and had a particular fondness for Ford vehicles, especially his Mustang.
Time with his grandchildren was especially meaningful to Jim, and each one held a special place in his heart. He valued gatherings with extended family, where stories were shared and laughs were endless.
Jim will be remembered for his steady presence, his appreciation for the simple things in life, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. He was most at home on his acreage, surrounded by the things he cared for, and the people who mattered most.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Myrna, his children, Marcy Schroeder and James W. Jones, Jr. (Rachael Angerman); his grandchildren, Bryce, Brady, and Briley Schroeder, Michael Jones, and Keenan (Jones) Fouts, along with extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Darlene Jones, and his siblings, Ray and Mike, and his in-laws, Amen and Lucille Rameden.
We would like to extend a special thank you to St. Croix Hospice and Rachael for their help in the caring of Jim during this time.
