Jim was born April 30, 1939, in Aberdeen, S.D. to parents Fay and Viola (Bruns) Glover. After living in Aberdeen for a short period as a child, he was raised in Frederick, South Dakota, graduated from Frederick High School, briefly attended South Dakota State University, and earned a degree from Northern State College in Aberdeen. Jim started his career as a draftsman for Hub City Iron Works, which later became Hub City and eventually Safeguard. Jim was a loyal employee for more than three decades and went on to lead the company for several years.
Jim married Peggy Ringler in 1958 and they had four children together: David, Todd, Jackie and Rod. Jim later married Joanne (Jody) House in 1968, and they had three boys: Jason, Jeff and Jamie. Jim and Jody started their family in Frederick and later moved to Aberdeen. In their later years they retired to Arizona, then moved back to the Midwest to be closer to family in 2009. Jody passed away in 2013.
Jim was proud to be from South Dakota and generously gave his time for state and local issues he believed in. As an avid outdoorsman, Jim spent every summer on the golf course with Jody and every fall hunting pheasant, ducks and geese with his dad and boys. Jim was also very involved at Roncalli and with the Aberdeen Swim Club.
Jim is survived by his children David (Dianne) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Todd (Becky) of Aberdeen, S.D., Jackie (Brian) Nesby of Fort Collins, Colo., Rod of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jason (Laura) of Sioux City, Iowa, Jeff of Collegeville, Minn., and James (Teresa) of Shoreview, Minn.
