James "Jim" R. Byrne

James “Jim” R. Byrne, 62 of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 31, 2025. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Boniface Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. with rosary at 9:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Jim was born the son of Thomas and Patricia (Minnig) Byrne on November 16, 1962 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from West High School in 1981 and later attended WIT and obtained a computer degree.

Jim started working for John Morrell in 1978 and worked there until his retirement in 2010.

He was an avid golfer at Sun Valley golf course and a Minnesota Vikings fan. He had an interest in NASA from a young age and liked keeping up with shuttle launches. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Boniface. His faith was important to him and he attended church every week.

Jim is survived by his siblings, William (Mindy) Byrne of Sioux City and Karen (Trent) Glamann of Kearney, Missouri; and nieces and nephews, Abby Byrne, Jacob Byrne, Steven Byrne, Megan (Kamron) Garber, and Garrett (Alissa) Glamann.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Byrne.
