Jackie & Dick Vasek

Mabel “Jackie” Vasek, 85 passed away on November 20, 2023 at home, and Richard “Dick” Vasek, 85 passed away on December 6, 2023, at a local hospital, both from Jackson, Nebraska.  A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Legion Hall in Jackson, Nebraska beginning at 2:00 p.m.  It is asked that you please bring a dish, due to this being a “potluck” fellowship.  The couple made the decision to be donated to the University of South Dakota for medical research.  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral home of South Sioux City, Nebraska assisted the family with arrangements.

Richard was a carpenter, specializing in hanging sheetrock, in the construction industry, and Jackie was a proud homemaker, raising their family.  The couple married on November 1, 1969 in South Sioux City, Nebraska and lived in Jackson, Nebraska for almost 50 years. 

Surviving the couple includes son Randy (Alayne) Vasek of Merritt, Utah; daughter Crystal (Mark) VanDePol of Sioux City, Iowa; daughter Dawn (Mike) Schincke of Emerson, Nebraska; daughter Joyce; and son Mike Vasek; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and Jackie’s brother Roy Brown of Arizona.

Jackie’s parents, Dick’s parents, Jackie’s brother Larry, Jackie’s sister Marilyn, along with Dick’s brother Don, brother Jim, and the couple’s youngest daughter Cheryl, preceded them in death.
