Jack W. Baker, 92, lifelong resident of Sioux City, IA passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with family at his bedside at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday July 26, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Jack was born on December 21, 1930, to Willis and Marcella (Smith) Baker. A graduate of Central High School in 1949. Loving the Marine Corp, Jack fought in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Jack was proud to be a Marine. He served 17 years on the Sioux City Fire Department, worked at KTIV and KCAU. Jack married Mary Jo Oliver of Emmetsburg, IA on March 1, 1952.

Jack is survived by son Joe Baker, daughter, Cathy and husband Bob Skarin, daughter, Patty and husband Wally Max, son Bill and wife Karen, Daughter, Mary Beth and daughter Bridget and husband Tim Cuka, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo, parents, brother Ken Baker, sister and brother-in-law, Luella, and Howard Sawyer, daughter-in-law, Carol Baker, granddaughter, Monica Colella, nieces, Connie Drouet, Marcella Tucker, nephews George and Allen Baker.
