Irene Marcella Van Lent, 99 of Hubbard, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Pender Community Hospital after a brief illness.  Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard with burial in Emerson, Nebraska at be at a later date.   Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard, followed by open hours of condolences until 7:00 p.m.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska is assisting the family with arrangements.

Irene was born on March 8, 1925 in Emerson, Nebraska to George and Marie (Zwyzart) Fuscher.  Following high school, she went to work at the bank.

Irene was united in marriage to Raymond J. Van Lent at Sacred Heart Church in 1947.  To this union, two children were born, Linda Rae and Robert Lee Van Lent.

Irene went to work for the Dakota County Treasurer in Dakota City, Nebraska.  She continued to work there from 1969 until 1990.  After retiring, she enjoyed camping with family and friends, making quilts for friends and family, and embroidering.  Irene also loved going to the casinos, in Sioux City, Deadwood, South Dakota, and Las Vegas, Nevada.  But most of all, she loved her time spent with her family.

She continued to live in her home in Hubbard, Nebraska until September 2023 at 98 years of age.  She then moved to Heritage of Emerson where she celebrated her 99th birthday!

Irene is survived by her son Robert (Twila) Van Lent of Hubbard, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother Ervin Fuscher of Emerson, Nebraska, and lots of nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Van Lent, daughter Linda Rae (Van Lent) Jepsen-Hunn, granddaughter Stacey Jepsen, sister Betty (Fuchser) Ensminger, and brother Leroy Fuchser.
