Henry E. Hansen, 84, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday June 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
There will be a visitation with the family Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:30 PM and Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tim Friedrichsen, Celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery on Monday July 8 at 10:30 AM. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com
Henry was born on March 19, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Leona (Jordan) Hansen. He graduated from Heelan High School and pursued further studies at both Morningside College and Western Iowa Tech.
Henry led a fulfilling life dedicated to service and hard work. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964.
In 1964, Henry met Mary Blackford and they were united in marriage on June 26, 1965 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He embarked on a career path that saw him excel in various fields. Henry worked as a machinist for 10 years at McCracken Concrete Pipe Machinery and later found success as a Life Insurance Agent with Metropolitan Life and John Hancock. Later, he became a financial broker with Independent Brokerage Network.
Outside of his professional life, Henry found joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed activities such as bowling, playing cards, pool, and bingo but above all, his faith and his family were most important to him.
His memory will be cherished by his surviving family including sons: Dan Hansen of Aurora, CO, Todd Hansen (Marcelo Silveira) of Austin, TX; brother Bruce Hansen; sister Leona Hansen; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, brothers Francis (Sharon) Hansen and Phil (Darlene) Hansen, as well as sister-in-law Gloria Hansen.
