Born on October 23, 1935, in Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico, Heliodoro's life was marked by a deep sense of responsibility, boundless generosity, and an enduring commitment to his family.
Throughout his life, Heliodoro was known for his hardworking and steadfast nature. He embodied the true spirit of selflessness, always willing to extend support and encouragement to his loved ones. His daughters, sisters, and brothers were a central focus of his life, and he remained their staunchest supporter through all seasons. One of his proudest accomplishments was the remarkable dedication he showed as a young widower, raising his two daughters with grace and strength after the passing of his beloved wife, Maria Cevera Gomez Gonzalez.
Heliodoro's generous heart extended beyond immediate family. He delighted in small acts of kindness that created lasting memories, such as always giving money to his grandchildren for the ice cream man—a simple gesture illustrating his joy in bringing happiness to those around him. His great love for life was evident in his varied interests and hobbies. He enjoyed watching soccer and listening to live music or the sounds spinning from his cherished vinyl player. Heliodoro found pleasure in fishing, playing pool, mowing the lawn, and indulging in brandy. His appreciation for beauty, laughter, and togetherness was unmistakable—he liked to look at beautiful women and treasured watching his grandchildren thrive. Above all, he loved family gatherings and took joy in witnessing his family united and happy.
Heliodoro's enduring legacy lives on through his daughters, Patricia Aquino and Irene Munoz; his grandchildren Eliza, Noemy, Daniel, Cynthia, Luceli, Alex, and Eduardo; and his extensive family including 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Juan, Victor, Placido, and Ramon, as well as his sisters Esperanza and Tonia. While he leaves behind many treasured relatives, he was preceded in death by his wife Maria Cevera Gomez Gonzalez; his parents Antonio De Anda Vasquez and Maria Jesus Gonzalez Avalos; and his siblings Saul De Anda and Irma De Anda.
The family will honor Heliodoro's memory with a visitation on May 7, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA. Following the visitation, a prayer service will be held at the same location from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass to celebrate Heliodoro’s life will take place on May 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, 1000 Douglas St, Sioux City, IA, concluding at 11:00 AM.
