Helen M. McGuire

Helen M. McGuire, 96, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. and a Rosary Service will be at 10:00 A.M. all at the Holy Spirit Chapel.  Burial will be at 1:00 PM Friday at Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Helen was born June 22, 1927, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of James and Frances (O’Gorman) McGuire.  She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy and attended the Sisters of the Presentation Convent.  During her time in the convent, Helen attended the University of Notre Dame.  She was a Presentation Nun for many years and left to care for her mother, after her father passed away.  During this time, Helen worked as a teacher and librarian. 

Helen was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Opus Dei and enjoyed reading.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents James and Frances McGuire, her brothers:  Thomas, Joseph, and John Patrick, and her fiancé Wayne Riehle.
