Helen Verdelle Husk

Helen Verdelle Husk, 89 of Junction City, KS, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at a Junction City nursing home after a three week illness.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Lorri Kentner officiating. Burial will be in the Maskell Cemetery in Maskell, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.Verdelle was born on October 17, 1924 in Maskell, NE. She married Raymond Husk in Sioux City, IA on June 23, 1945. She worked at Pilleys in Sioux City, IA after graduating from high school. Verdelle worked as a telephone operator out of her home in Obert, NE, as a checker in the Ray Nielson locker in Wynot, NE, as a candler in the produce in Wynot, NE, and for a short time at the Bank of Dixon County in Newcastle, NE.She was a member of the United Methodist Church and women's ladies aid.Verdelle was a very loving and doting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite pass times were camping, traveling and putting puzzles together on cold winter nights.Survivors include daughters, Judy (Richard) Schindler of Troy, Missouri and Janice (Raymond) Padel of Junction City, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Verdelle was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Husk; parents, Ed and Maude Whitsett; sisters, Gail Johnson, Doris Stukas and Fern Hinrich; and great-grandson, Michael Himmelsbach.
