Obituary

Harold Allen Lockmiller Jr., 88, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, a long battle with alzheimers disease.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, Iowa. A prayer service will be held that evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stone State Park, 5001 Talbot Rd, Sioux City, Iowa, at the Stone Park Shelter Lodge.

Harold was born on July 13, 1938 to Harold and Edna (Mikulicz) Lockmiller. He attended Emerson Elementary until moving to Le Mars, Iowa in 5th grade. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School.

Harold married Dorothy Roberts in Sioux City on May 4th, 1963. Harold helped build the house on an acreage where they raised their 4 kids and they have lived for 56 years.

Harold was a painter and a carpenter and also worked for Hospice of Siouxland. He was in the United States Navy for 4 years and the Air Guard for 20 years. He volunteered at the veteran's clinic for many years and was also active in the American Legion.

Harold enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to hunt and go fishing with his family in Minnesota, and South Dakota. He also enjoyed playing the card game "Pitch" with them. He loved sports and coached little league and co-ed softball for many years.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy, children: Steve (Brandi), Scott (Lisa), Jamie, and Tricia (John). Woods. Grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Blume, Dakota, Scottie (Stephanie), Allison, Christian, Payton (Kaitlyn) Lockmiller, and Tyler Boraas. Great grandchildren: Gage, Camdyn, McKenna, Ciara, Cayden, Nash and Soren. Brother Jim and sisters-in-law Sharon, and Peggy Roberts. Cousins: Connie and Jim Willats, Penny and Mark Porter and Dawn Rosendahl and many special nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Frank and Mabel Roberts, sisters-in law Sally Smith, Katie & Marcella Roberts and brothers-in-law Tom, George and Don Roberts and Howie Smith.

Our family would like to thank the people at Pioneer Valley and Hospice of the Midwest who gave good care to Harold.
