Harold James “Jim” Beaulieu, 84 of Hinton, Iowa passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, August 1, 2026. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Ellendale, Iowa with Father Doug Klein as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Luncheon will be offered following graveside prayers at the Country Celebrations Event Center in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with a Vigil Service beginning Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jim was born in Sioux City to Harold and Mabel (Angove) Beaulieu on April 25, 1942. He grew up attending Liberty School and graduated in 1959. Throughout his life he was a jack-of-all-trades and worked many jobs including a meat packing plant, custom agriculture Nuta-Flo spraying, Hinton Co-Op Lumber Yard, driving a bus for Westmar College and owner of the Beaulieu Gas Station. His favorite job was picking up and delivering trailers all across America for Hitches Trailers & More. This was a job where he could enjoy beautiful scenery while working.

Through Jim’s aunt Evelyn, he was introduced to Bernice Schwarz. Jim and Bernice were married on December 2, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of rural Hinton. They celebrated their 64th anniversary.

In his retirement, Jim enjoyed golfing. His golfing accomplishments are two holes-in-one awards, and he was league champion several times at Deer Run Golf Course in Hinton. Playing cards with family and friends was also a favorite pastime. Watching WNBA basketball was one of his newer hobbies. Farming for 4B Land and Cattle, he worked alongside his sons which brought him tremendous joy. Woodworking was his greatest passion. Over the years he would often be found in his workshop, crafting over 100 different handmade wooden items given to family and friends as gifts at Christmas time. His creations, some very intricate, became a cherished tradition. They were the gifts everyone looked forward to receiving each year.

Jim is survived by his wife Bernice; his children Tracy (Brian) Frerichs of Hinton, Brent (Renee) Beaulieu of Sioux City, Jackie (Garry) Ruzicka of Wayne, Todd (Cherri) Beaulieu of Hinton, and Nicholas Beaulieu of Hinton; grandchildren Lynn Mouw, Heath (Amanda) Hageman, Heidi (Adam) Boesenberg, Trisha Frerichs, Trenton (Olivia) Frerichs, Tori (Matt) Helm, Colton (Taylor) Beaulieu, Ambre (Jon) Pieper, Mashayla Ruzicka, Skylar Beaulieu, Addie Guzman, and Miyah Guzman; 17 great-grandchildren; and his brothers Richard, William (Rose), Kenneth (Jane) Beaulieu.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandy Yoerger, father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Philomena, brothers-in-law Larry Yoerger, Roger Schwarz, Marvin Schwarz, Jim Dreckman, and sisters-in-law Mary Beaulieu and Norma McCann.

Casket Bearers for the service will be Heath Hageman, Adam Boesenberg, Trenton Frerichs, Matt Helm, Colton Beaulieu, Jon Pieper, and Skylar Beaulieu.
