Grant Madsen, born on November 1, 1970, in Sioux City, Iowa, passed away suddenly at his home in the same city on May 18, 2026. His unexpected departure has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his memory shines brightly with the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Michael Miller officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Grant was a vibrant soul—fun, friendly, outgoing, and full of life. He carried a loyal spirit that endeared him to many and made him a cherished friend and family member. From an early age, he embraced life with enthusiasm and a genuine kindness that never wavered.
A proud graduate of Sioux City West High School’s Class of 1989, Grant's dedication extended beyond the classroom. He served honorably in the United States Army National Guard, demonstrating a commitment to his country that reflected his strong sense of duty and integrity.
For many years, Grant was a valued long-time employee at Sabre Industries, working diligently as a Clerk in the Tool Room. His professional journey also included time as a team member at Gateway Industries. Through these roles, he built a reputation for reliability and a strong work ethic.
Among Grant’s many passions were his motorcycles and his love for experimenting with different types of speakers—hobbies that brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests. Time spent riding motorbikes with friends and family was especially treasured, embodying the lively spirit that defined him.
Grant held his family close to his heart, and his proudest accomplishments were being a devoted father and grandfather and a loving husband to his wife Shannon (Miller) Madsen. The joy he took in family times—sharing meals out, savoring his favorite barbecue ribs, and simply being surrounded by those he loved—was the cornerstone of his life. Grant enjoyed time with his best buddy James Foster.
He leaves behind his loving wife Shannon, his son Kade Madsen, his father Paul Madsen, mother Mary (Hansen) Madsen, and brother Paul W. E. Madsen. He is also remembered fondly alongside his brother Greg Madsen, who preceded him in death.
Grant’s life was a testament to warmth, loyalty, and a zest for living fully. Though his sudden passing has brought sorrow, the legacy of his love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will be cherished always, living on in the hearts of his family and friends.
