Gordon A. Grieve

   Gordon A. Grieve, 80, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at his residence.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tim Friedrichsen, Celebrant. Private family burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

   Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.

   Gordon Arthur, the son of Chris and Charlotte (Britton) Grieve, was born June 23, 1942 in Sioux City. He grew up and attended school in Sioux City. After high school, Gordon enlisted into the United States Army and he served two years in Germany as a machinist. After being honorably discharged on November 11, 1963, he returned to make his home in Sioux City.

   On August 17, 1968, Gordon was united in marriage to Mary L. Heidesch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA and this union was blessed with three children. The family made their home in Sioux City and Gordon worked at Metz Baking for 35 years until his retirement.

   Gordon enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching football, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

   He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children: Missy (James Tripp) Grieve, Wendy (Kevin) Barbee, and Nathan Grieve; three grandchildren: Zackery Mathison, Ethan Mathison, and Megen Grieve; one great grandson, Bryden Arthur Grieve all of Sioux City, IA; one brother-in-law, Lyle (Ethel) Heidesch; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Ungs, Holly Nolen, and Rosie (Gary) Grage; and several nieces; nephews; relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara (Lee) Hansen; in-laws: Fred and Armella Heidesch and three brothers-in-law: Bill (Shirley) Heidesch, John Ungs, and Jim Nolen.
