Sioux City

Gloria J. Hyronemus, 73 of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 3, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. 

Gloria was born the daughter of Dick and Theodora (Van Batavia) Schelling on January 30, 1951 in Orange City, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1969. She married Stan Prins on July 1, 1969. To this union 4 children were born. She later married Allen Hyronemus on October 10, 1987. They had a son together and she also gained two step-sons. He passed away in 2013. 

Gloria worked at Tur-Pak Foods for 34 years where she made many friends over the years. She worked in a variety of positions until her retirement. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She liked to drive around and sight see. Sometimes she got lost. She liked showing off her fun, ever changing multicolored hair-dos. She also liked camping and doing crossword puzzles. 

Gloria is survived by her children, Tiffany Prins of Sioux City, IA, Monty (Jennifer) Prins of Sioux Center, IA, Nicole (Chris) Mohning of Jackson, MN, Chantelle Prins of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Josh Hyronemus of Sioux City, IA; step-son, Jason Hyronemus of Helena, MT; brother, Darwin Schelling; grandchildren, Laken, Autumn, Gabyrella, Attyson, Mackenzie, Ashley, Matthew, Lillian, Alexander, TJ, Avah, Callie, Cieara, and Olivia; 10 great-grandchildren; and many bonus grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; step-son, Chad; brother, Glenn; and grandchildren, Whittney and Ayden.
