Gertrude Johnson

Gertrude Johnson, 92, of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday, May 8, 2023. Private family services were held with burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Gert was born July 2, 1930, in McKeesport, PA. She married Donald Johnson on September 4, 1952 in Emmetsburg, IA.  They moved to Sioux City in 1957. Gert and Don spent their lifetimes in the golf course industry, very proud of their accomplishments and business which included owning and operating Hidden Acres Golf Course. Gert loved being with her family and was a constant source of support and enjoyment. She made the Christmas season especially joyful for family and guests and no one enjoyed it more than she did. She was a special loving and caring mother and grandmother and friend to many.

Survivors include her daughter Karen and her family Lowell, Stephen, Elizabeth, Craig, Skylar and Tatum; her son Bob and his family Stephanie, Jennifer, Trevor, and Jeff.

Gert was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, and her brothers and sisters.
