Obituary

Gerald L. “Jerry” Krieger passed away on August 23, 2026, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Irene (Itzen) and George Krieger on September 5, 1942. Jerry graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and went into the Navy, stationed in San Diego, California.

In 1963, he joined the Nebraska State Patrol and was stationed in Kearney, Osceola, and South Sioux City, where he was a Criminal Investigator and polygraph examiner until his retirement in 1993.

While in Osceola, he met and later married Carol Branting on June 18, 1967. They were blessed with one son, Kurtis Charles in 1972.

Jerry was a member of First Lutheran Church, O.E.S., Omadi Lodge and Sesostris Temple. He enjoyed winters in Arizona, summers in Leech Lake, Minnesota, golf, fishing, and his coffee friends.

He requested no funeral. Inurnment will be at a later date in Osceola, Nebraska.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and George Krieger and his in-laws Nina and Raymond Branting.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carol; son Kurtis; sister Donna (Mick) Harris; brother Larry (Penny) Krieger of Lincoln; his sister-in-law Anita (Dick) Kentopp of Fremont; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
