George Zeitner, 85, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Lawton Senior Living. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. George was born the son of Rufino and Hope Cruz on April 23, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended Sioux City Schools and earned a degree at Wayne State College. He married Jeannine Surber and to this union three children were born and the couple raised a grandson, Malachi Zeitner. He taught school in Audubon, Grinnell, and Marshalltown, Iowa.

George was especially proud of the many students and athletes he taught and coached; he cherished those relationships. Highlight memories include the 1966 State Runner-up golf team, the 1967 State golf team in Audubon, Iowa, and the 1989 State Runner-up golf team in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of Sioux City, his daughter Billi Jo Paxson and son Brad Zeitner, along with son-in-law Ken Paxson and daughter-in-law Beth Zeitner, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brandon Zeitner, and one sister.
