Gary S. Howie was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to William L. Howie and Agnes J. Howie. He went to Hunt Elementary, North Junior High, and Central High Schools in Sioux City, lowa. He met Margaret Bylin, a classmate and they were married June 29, 1958. Gary joined the US Navy Reserve and served eight years. In 1960, he and Margaret moved to Denver, Colorado where he pursued a career as a transportation salesman. They had two daughters, Susan Ann and Stacy Lynn and established a life long home in Lakewood, Colorado. He enjoyed several years with his daughters showing their horses and their activities. A hobby of keeping his vehicles immaculate and camping and traveling, especially Arizona and Oregon, making friends along the way.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Margaret, his daughter Susan (Mark) Hawkins, sister Debra Prieb, son-in-law Ted Merelli, grandchildren, Sasha Merelli, Arielle Vigil, Nicholas Merelli, and Sara Hawkins, great grand children, Sebastian, Axel, and Ashlynn Vigil, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Stacy, and two brothers, Bill and Jon.
