Frederick B. Veenker, 82, affectionately known as Fred, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 8, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Mamie (Tikalsky) Veenker.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Fred served at Camp Rose in Korea, embodying the values of duty and dedication.
Fred's professional journey began with running a Ferris Wheel in Arizona. He later transitioned into the grocery industry, where he managed various stores. Fred's career also included a significant role as a supervisor at Service Master, culminating in his retirement from Gerkin Windows and Doors, where he dedicated his skills to wrapping and boxing windows.
In addition to his professional contributions, Fred enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with hobbies and interests. He played baseball in his youth and his passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing and hunting, pursuits he often shared with his fiancée and son. Fred also had a deep appreciation for music, particularly polka and western genres, which he enjoyed listening to during family gatherings and quiet moments alike.
Fred is survived by his fiancée, Susan Ort, and his son, Zach Ort, both of South Sioux City.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew John Veenker and Mamie Elenor (Tikalsky) Veenker.
