Frankie Lee Sroufe

January 20, 1947 — September 14, 2024

Sioux City, Iowa

Frankie Lee Sroufe, the daughter of Leo Frank and Dorothy (Kleckler) Richardson, was born on January 20, 1947, in Tucson, Arizona. She passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 77. She lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Raised in a military family, Frankie moved to Alameda, California, during her childhood. After completing her education there, she relocated to Sioux City, where she began to lay the foundations of her life. It was in Sioux City that Frankie started working at Zenith, where she met the love of her life, Gary M. Sroufe. The couple were united in marriage on July 7, 1972, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Marlina.

Frankie's professional journey was marked by her role as a coordinator for NPI, a position she approached with passion and commitment. She took great pride in helping individuals with learning disabilities, passionately working to set them up for success and equipping them with the tools necessary to thrive in life. Her career was a true reflection of her deeply compassionate nature.

Family was at the heart of Frankie's life. She was an incredibly supportive wife, mother, and grandmother, always ready to lend a helping hand during challenging times. In later years, Frankie became a devoted caregiver to her husband Gary, demonstrating her strength and dedication in the most profound ways. She was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church and in recent years at Faith Lutheran Church.

In addition, Frankie had a zest for life that extended beyond her work. She cherished traveling with Gary, creating lasting memories during their many adventures, including several mystery trips. Frankie also eagerly anticipated each year’s annual Krew De Charlie Sioux Festival, where she celebrated her love for community and connection. Her fondness for animals was evident throughout her life as she loved her pets dearly.

Frankie is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Marlina (Russell) Garcia of Sioux City; her three grandchildren: Mallorie (Keri) Minor and their daughter Amara Perkins, Donovan (Shawna) Minor, and Nikita Renken; and her three siblings: Ellen Richardson, Verde (Bill) Burgoss, and Danny Kent.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Pastor Ezra Grabau officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
