On the morning of November 18, 2023 Forest William “Tim” Schoeneman Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa, took his own checkered flag after eighty one laps around the sun and took part in celebrations in the heavenly victory lane. Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with burial at Logan Park Cemetery.
Tim was born to Forest William Schoeneman Senior and Jean Schoeneman in Sioux City, Iowa in 1942. He attended Bryant Elementary School as well as Shattuck Military Academy in Faribault Minnesota where he graduated in 1961. He then studied at San Jose State in California and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Tim returned to Sioux City to return to the family business to successfully run Schoeneman Lumber Company and Edwards & Brown Coal Company. These later became Schoeneman Equipment and Scaffolding Company (SESCO). Tim was both the CEO of Schoeneman Lumber Company and SESCO.
Tim met Betty Holder in September 1971 in Denver, Colorado. They subsequently got engaged that October. They then married in Lovington, New Mexico in December of 1971. They had two children, Christian and Adam. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and various business organizations as well as many Masonic organizations.
Tim was an avid motorsport fan and he had two stints at racing. He raced for a few years in an MG and later in the 1990’s raced a 1957 356A Porsche. Rubber and roads were not his only passion as he also loved the water and sailed various sailboats for decades. He also had a penchant for travel, starting extensively in the United States but as time went on, he traveled to various locations in the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.
Tim and Betty spent many years sailing at Lewis & Clark Lake with their many trusted friends. They also spent many years down in Key West Florida soaking up the sun and the salt water.
