Florence E. "Flo" Tapley

Florence E. "Flo" Tapley, 90 of Sioux City passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. with a 6:00 P.M. service at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Florence was born the daughter of Francis and Pearl (Hanshaw) Bowman on August 7, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School. Florence married Carlton J. “Buddy” Tapley, Sr. They had three children, Carlton J. “Boo” Tapley, Jr., Patricia Hersom, and Lisa (Jim) Mascarello. Carlton passed away in 1973. She later met her longtime partner, David Welch and they enjoyed 20 plus years together. They had a daughter, Vicky (Daniel) Schwartz. David passed away in 1994.

Florence was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Outside of that, she held many jobs in sales and retail over the years.

Florence will be remembered by her family for her glitz and glam. She loved to wine and dine and always made sure she was dressed to impress. She enjoyed rummaging and searching for treasure at the Goodwill, doing home improvement projects and taking care of her home. She spent a lot of time watching her grandchildren in their youth and loved travelling.

Florence is survived by her children, Patricia Hersom, Lisa (Jim) Mascarello, and Vicky (Daniel) Schwartz; beloved brother, Roger (Vicki); grandchildren, Derek, Dillan (Ashley), Kelsey (Kenton), Alissa, Spencer (Kelli), Carter (Kianna), Sydney (Gabe), Jessica (Christian), Ethan (Jesna), and Ashley; and many great grandchildren. She adored them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buddy; longtime partner, Dave; son, Boo; and brothers, Chuck and Jim.
