Florence E. Palmer

Florence E. Palmer, 84 of Sioux City passed away Monday, October 26, 2026 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 2, 2026 at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the burial time at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Florence was born the daughter of Robert and Frances (Lily) Coover on September 10, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa. She married her longtime partner, Bill Palmer on October 16, 2010. Florence worked in nursing at several places in Siouxland.

In her retirement, she enjoyed feeding wildlife in her backyard. She was a collector of rocks and animal nicknacks. Florence formed special bonds with the neighborhood kids, who ate many popsicles at her house and also the local fire department, who made many trips to her home in her final years. She will be fondly remembered for her kind heart and spicy personality.

Florence is survived by her children, Rich (Lori) Mann, Jr., Pam (Ken) Heathershaw, Jeff (Patty) Mann, Cheryl Brick, and Scott Mann; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Jack) Stidd, Linda (George) Howell; half-sisters, Marsha Gale, Deb Kelly, and Cathy Piper; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and her son, Mark.
