Floanne "Flo"
Frey
April 19, 1935 – April 28, 2026
Floanne “Flo” Frey passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on April 19, 1935, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Gerald and Evelynne (Woldum) Meehlhause.
A visitation to honor Flo’s life will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, located at 6200 Morningside Avenue in Sioux City, Iowa. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service in the Meyer Brothers Reception Room. Following the luncheon, a burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Lutheran Church.
At a very young age, Flo’s family moved to Sioux City, where she grew up and built a wonderful life. After graduating from East High School, she began working at a bank in Sioux City. During that time, she met her future husband, Fredric “Fred” Frey, who was attending Morningside College. The two were married and built a beautiful life together, raising three children.
Flo was known for her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile that could light up a room. She always seemed to be smiling and bringing joy to those around her. She was one of her family’s biggest supporters, always involved in their activities and creating close, lasting bonds with those she loved. Flo was also a wonderful cook, and her meals were enjoyed and appreciated by everyone lucky enough to gather around her table.
Flo was deeply involved as a member of PEO, which was very meaningful to her. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.
One of Flo’s proudest accomplishments was scoring a hole-in-one in golf—a memory she treasured and proudly shared. She and Fred spent many hours together on the golf course, enjoying the game and each other’s company. They also cherished the friendships they shared and the many good times spent with friends over the years.
She is survived by her three children: Sheryl (Jon) Sandage, Michael (Lisa) Frey, and Gary (Jeanette) Frey. Her legacy continues through six grandchildren: Nathan (Maricella) Sandage, Kyle (Alisha) Sandage, Kayla (Tim) Lanphier, Bryce Frey, Brenden Frey, and Adam Frey, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Flo’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and caregivers who provided her with comfort and compassionate care over the last few years.
