Evonne Lee Hagberg, 92 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 of natural causes. Known for her warmth, strength and courage, her strongest passion was her art. She touched many lives and left us with fond memories.
Her body has been donated for medical research per her wish. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1201 Clifton Ave, Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Evonne was born August 3, 1928 in Sioux City to Manford and Mary (Stamm) O’Connell. She remained in the general Sioux City area her entire life. She graduated from Sioux City East High School. Evonne attended Morningside College later in life and earned a Bachelor of Arts in theater graduating May 9, 1993.
She married Glenn R. Tucker in 1946. This union produced four children: Linda, Randy, Kirk and Lisa. She later married Melvin L. Hagberg on April 27, 1968.
Evonne spent her working career as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper. She supported Melvin as office manager in his accounting firm.
Survivors include her children: Linda M. Groetken of Sioux City, Lisa G. Hagberg (Dan Maryott) of Canton, SD; daughter in law: Shirley R. Tucker of Lebanon, MO; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and her many missionary grandchildren.
Evonne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons: Glenn Randy Tucker and Kirk Allen Tucker and a son in law Francis D. Groetken.
The family requests all memorials be designated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sioux City 2nd Ward Relief Society.
