Evelyn B. Mendoza

  Evelyn B. Mendoza, 74, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at her residence surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

  Evelyn was born on February 26, 1949, in Lunen, Germany, to Werner and Margot (Greiser) Scharfe.

  She married Francisco Mendoza on October 25, 2013 in Le Mars, Iowa.

  She was a woman of many talents and was involved in multiple communities, too many to mention! Evelyn was a mother to many and a friend to all. She was overflowing with love and kindness. She was smart, strong, independent, self-reliant, loving, caring, and most of all—our protector. She was the Queen of Serenity, truly unforgettable!

  Survivors include her husband, Francisco Mendoza, of Sioux City; daughters: Sandra Casaday (Terry) and Melissa Lara, both of Sioux City; sister, Marlies Heyden (Mario) of Kraiburg, Germany; brother, Dietmar Scharfe (Andrea) of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren: Katie Rawlins (Julian) of San Diego, CA, Kelsey Rawlins (Miguel) of Sioux City, Dimii Rawlins, and Cadence Casaday, both of Sioux City; great-grandchildren: Aidan Casaday and Kaylynn Casaday, both of Cherokee, IA, and Luna Orihuela of Sioux City.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Junior Casaday.

  Pallbearers will be Francisco Mendoza, Cadence Casaday, Aidan Casaday, Miguel Orihuela, Julian Broadnax, and Carter Smith.
