Evelyn F. Keller

  Evelyn F. Keller, 95 of Newcastle, NE passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024. A graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 22, 2024 at Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home.

  Evelyn was born the daughter of Giles and Ruth (Marsh) Wilbur on August 27, 1928 in Dixon, Nebraska. She graduated from Ponca High School and then became a licensed cosmetologist. Eveyln married Elman J. Keller on December 21, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home on the farm outside of Newcastle where Elman started farming in 1951. They enjoyed 69 years together until Elman passed away in 2019.

  After retiring, they did extensive traveling in all 50 states and much of Canada and Mexico. Evelyn enjoyed flowers, listening to music, chocolate, and having lunch at Bob’s Bar.  She also enjoyed sitting on the deck with Jake, her black lab.

  Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Marlin) Bender of Dakota Dunes, SD and Janet (Scott) Freeman of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren, Jess (Katie) Bender, Kate (Mike) Torevell, Travis (Kate Pedersen) Wilson, and Bryan Wilson; and great-grandsons, Gabe and Marik Torevell and Henry, James, and Charlie Wilson; and brother, Ellis (Marjorie) Wilbur.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elman; parents, Giles and Ruth Wilbur; and sister, Elaine (Lyle) Johnson.
