Emily Michelle Gonzalez, 25, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away after a courageous two-year journey with cancer.

Funeral services for Emily will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Chapel, 1431 W. 29th Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. that morning, one hour prior to the service.

The family will have a private burial at Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa the following day.

She was diagnosed in 2024 at the age of 23 and spent the following years receiving treatment and searching for a path forward. Throughout her journey, Emily remained surrounded by the love of her family and fiancé.

Emily is survived by her fiancé, Victor Coronado; her father, Rony Gonzalez; her mother, Patricia Cabrera; her sister, Wendy Gonzalez; her brother, Ronie Gonzalez; and her sister, Jackeline Gonzalez.

She was preceded in death by her aunt, Dora Cabrera, and her grandfather, Tomas Gonzalez.

Emily attended South Sioux City High School, where she was a cheerleader, played soccer, participated in school news, and served as a teacher’s assistant. She was known for her kind spirit, gentle heart, and the warmth she showed to others.

Emily had a special love for children. She was caring, patient, and nurturing, with a genuine desire to help children grow and feel supported. Her presence had a way of making people feel loved, valued, and important. Her radiant smile could light up a room.

She loved to travel and made every trip more memorable. Emily was often the first to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and getting the most out of every adventure. Her family treasured her sense of humor and the laughter she brought with her.

Emily took great pride in being a loving fiancée, a devoted dog mom, a teacher’s assistant, and someone who was always present for the people she loved. She enjoyed good food, gaming, sporting events, and cheering on those around her. She loved Justin Bieber, dancing, and traveling. Her creativity came alive through art, crafts, and painting.

Emily never needed a special occasion to dress up, look beautiful, and feel her best. She had a vibrant spirit and a way of bringing joy into the ordinary moments of life.

Above all, Emily will be remembered for her kindness, humor, beautiful smile, and the love she gave so freely to the people around her. Her life was far too short, but the love, laughter, and memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
