Eleanor Marie James

January 8, 1941 — June 5, 2022

Eleanor Marie (Denny) James, 81 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at a local nursing facility.  A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Don Trimble officiating.  Later in the day on Friday, a traditional Wake will be held at the Santee Community Center in Niobrara, Nebraska with burial on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Santee Cemetery, in Niobrara with Father James Marr officiating.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Eleanor was born on January 8, 1941 in Winnebago, Nebraska to Jerimiah L. and Melvine I. (Rouillard) Denny.  She attended Haskell University and the University of Kansas from 1992 until 1996, graduating in 1996 having been on the Dean’s List for three years.  Eleanor spent most of her working career as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) in the Siouxland area for 35 years. 

Eleanor attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Mission Church, taught Sunday School in the 1980’s.  She loved music, singing with the choir, and she had a voice of an angel.  

Left to cherish her memories are her children Douglas Lee Franco of Phoenix, AZ, Nina Bella (Mac) Franco-Towner, Donna Jean (Eric) Taylor of Phoenix, AZ, Jerimiah Louie (Brenda) Franco of Sioux City, Ella Mae Franco of Seattle, WA, Yvette Twyla Franco of Sioux City, Wasu Duta of South Dakota, and Trooper James; 43 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, son Dalbert Jay Franco, two daughters Alberta Marie Cardenas and Meredith Kay James, and brother Clifford Denny.

Honorary Pallbearers are Leslie Rouillard and Larry Rouillard.
